John is recognized as one of the nation's "go to" guys for machine gun information and advice. He has an extensive array of historically significant weapons, and can put together an event that you will never forget.
Terms:
For those with rural acreage with a suitable backstop (and where shooting does not conflict with any local ordinances), John will come to you with a wide array of interesting full autos and set up the shoot on your property. Cost for this is $1000 and $.50 per mile travel distance (both ways) if the destination is 4 hours or less drive time from St. Louis.
Over 4 hours distance from St. Louis but less than 6 is $1300 plus mileage.
More than 6 hours from St. Louis, the rate is $1000 a day for every day or part of a day that John is away from St. Louis, plus the same $0.50 per mile travel expense. Figure John will drive 10 hours in a day.
If you want to have your party at John's private range (a rock quarry 45 minutes from Alton, Illinois) the fee is $1000, there is no mileage charge, and John will set up his electric claybird thrower, provide free clays, cook lunch and provide bottled water and soft drinks for your guests.
Shooting the guns in most cases costs $20 for every three magazines, which covers the cost of the ammo and wear and tear on the guns (especially barrels.) With belt-fed guns and some others the cost to shoot them will depend on caliber, belt capacity, and the cost of spare barrels. Each person can decide what volume of shooting suits his budget.
As a typical example, John put on a shoot recently in Ava, Missouri, which is almost 4 hours from St. Louis. There were about 30 people, so each person put up about $40 to be part of the action. The group fired about 5000 rounds of ammo over 3 1/2 hours, which was an average of another $40 per person in ammo costs. For well under $100 a head, the guests had a GREAT time and have scheduled a fall event. One highlight of the April shoot was cutting down a 15" diameter hickory tree (that the owner wanted for firewood) with a belt-fed machine gun.
Note: This is NOT tactical training with machine guns. This is recreational use of historic weapons. You will get hands-on experience with a WIDE variety of rare and significant arms, and will develop your own opinions about which are the easiest to hit with and best to shoot.
The variety of available guns which John can bring is impressive. He will advise which ones to have him bring, depending on the number of participants and the approximate amount they want to shoot. In no case will it be fewer than a dozen different full autos:
